Care Village
Roseland Parc Retirement Village is set in the small Cornish village of Tregony, located just to the east of Truro and only a couple of miles from the spectacular beaches of the Roseland peninsular.
While the site was originally occupied by a single small care home, its potential as the basis of a care village was identified by its owners and an ambitious development programme was started in 2006. Since its inception, the care village has developed through a number of carefully planned phases, aimed at maximising the potential of the site, while respecting the local environs and the residents who live there.
The village offers a broad range of accommodation across the 8 acre site, with nursing, dementia and residential care is provided in Cornelly, Carne and Lowden House, with the assisted living facet of the village is found in a combination of cottages and apartments spread throughout the site, either around a series of courtyards, or in the more exclusive walled garden development. Communal facilities within the care village include restaurants, swimming pool and spa, fitness room and hair salon, while outside the residents can enjoy croquet, putting or bowls.
The original care home that previously occupied the site, known as Penlee House, has recently obtained Full Planning permission and listed building consent to transform it from an 18-bed care home into 9 extra care apartments within Roseland Parc Retirement Village. Penlee House has not served as a care home for over 5 years due to the challenges of meeting modern requirements and the limited ability to adapt the building without compromising its heritage significance. The proposed development aims to address the need for improved services tailored to the provision of extra care apartments. Retirement Villages Ltd seeks to enhance Penlee House and provide additional options for extra care living to residents of Roseland Parc Retirement Village and staff utilising these services. The proposed extensions and reconfiguration of the Grade II listed building and its surroundings have been carefully considered to complement the character and appearance of Penlee House within the site.
In addition to the plans for refurbishing Penlee House, we have recently obtained planning permissions to enhance communal facilities, addressing the essential care needs provision for residents of Roseland Parc Care Home, extra care residents within the village, and staff utilizing these services. The proposals include extending and reconfiguring the front entrance and expanding the communal dining area to create a versatile lounge/dining space that maximizes the site's efficiency. The scale and design of these proposed extensions and improvements to the immediate environment have been carefully thought out to enhance the character and appearance of the existing home.
